Final Step of Marbling

Fourth grade has finally made it to the final day of our marbling project!  After two days of marbling (two days of messy fun!) and two days working on creating silhouettes, we have finally finished (and with great results, I might add!).  I was so busy helping students that I didn't get many photos and a bunch I took are not on my camera (strange!), but here are the ones I got.  Enjoy!

Pastels on Velour, Day 2

So, here are some pics of our final results.  Nice pumpkins third grade!  Next art club, we are going to be working on a project using recycled water bottles.  Don't forget to bring in your water bottle!

Pastel on Velour Paper, Day 1

Today, during thrid grade art club, we started using chalk pastels on velour paper.  This is a new technique for me and the kids.  I have always wanted to try it and so glad we are doing it during art club.  Today, we only got to sketch our pumpkins.  Next week, we will be on to shading!  Look for our final results next week.
Here are a few of our sketches...

Marbling Take Two!

Yesterday, we took our second stab at marbling with shaving cream.  I think it was even better the second time.  There was more time for experimenting since we didn't need to spend much time on learning the technique.  This time I instructed the students to just make designs without trying to make it look like "something".  Next art club, we are going to use a piece of the marbled paper to serve as a background for a landscape silhouette project.  We had some fantastic results!

Pumpkins and Spiders in Model Magic

Happy Halloween!  In celebration of this favorite children's holiday, during art club the students had a choice to make either a pumpkin or a spider from model magic.  For most of my third graders, this was their first time using model magic and they loved it!  Third grade art club is for a really short period of time, but the kids did a great job.  I would love to see what they would come up with if they had more time!
